Update (May 15, 2020):

We spent the four weeks between March 23rd and April 17th trying to do our part in minimizing the impact that COVID-19 has on our community while at the same time ensuring that every customer had the products they needed to move forward with projects that were forging ahead.  As noted previously, we reduced our staff to ensure that every employee had a work environment conducive to proper social distancing and sanitation practices.  At the same time, our  management team worked diligently on the plan for re-introducing our workforce into the factory in the safest manner possible.  Our new plan includes smaller groups of people on break simultaneously as well as spacing out break area seating, sanitation measures between each break, smaller and more sanitary coffee stations, face masks required when leaving personal work space, general social distancing practices, all among many other safety measures.  On April 20th, we invited all of our employees back to work.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time!  If you are in need of any assistance developing a safe working plan, please do not hesitate to ask!

To our customers (March 23, 2020),

First, we would like to express our sincere appreciation, love, and well-wishes to each and everyone of our customers, the entire beauty industry, and our employees.  Today, we feel it is important that we all, both individually and collectively, must work together to minimize the impact that COVID-19 has on our communities.

To that end, let us take a moment to notify everyone of what we are doing at Collins currently to help mitigate risks for our employees and community as well as inform you all of Collins’ current state of operations:

  • Between a short term furlough of office staff and utilizing remote employees, we have created the safest office environment possible for the remaining staff to comfortably come to work, serve our customers, and manage all facets of the business.

  • We have temporarily reduced our factory staff, operating with a lean skeleton crew of some of our most skilled and tenured employees to continue manufacturing high priority jobs, service any possible issues, and maintain basic shipping and receiving functions during this time of limited services.

  • Our Cookeville and Chicago showrooms have been temporarily closed.

  • Beyond the above, we have also limited non-essential travel, developed social distancing measures inside the workplace, and increased sanitation and cleaning staff.

Since this crisis is unprecedented and we are running a short staff for the sake of public health, our ability to provide the level of service that we normally strive for may be temporarily hindered.  Please also note that our current open orders and lead times are being affected by the Covid-19 crisis. If you have an open order that you urgently need, please reach out and let us know so we can duly prioritize it.  Conversely, if you have a project that you know will be delayed, we’d need to know that too so we can be sure and use our capacity in a way that will be most impactful.

We will continue to monitor the situation in each part of the country as well as locally, and we will be addressing our staffing levels in a way to maintain our plan of providing a safe work environment while also serving our customers.

Thank you,
The Collins Team
